Open Records Requests

The City of Portland has established guidelines in accordance with the Public Information Act (link), formerly Open Records Act, to ensure that all records in the possession of and pertaining to the operation of the governmental body are available to the public through a systematic and centralized process.

The city secretary has the authority to release records in accordance with the Public Information Act, with the exception of the Fire Department (link), Municipal Court (link), and Police Department (link) records. Such records are released through the respective department director in each of those departments.
